As a doctoral researcher in Geography at Ï㽶ÊÓƵAPP, I am investigating how redistributing surplus food can lead to measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits. My thesis examines practices and outcomes in North Wales and Nigeria, particularly their relationship to environmental sustainability, waste governance, social welfare, and business management.
With a Distinction in my MSc in Environmental and Business Management from Ï㽶ÊÓƵAPP and a BSc in Geology, I adopt an interdisciplinary approach that connects the practical realities of third-sector food redistribution with policy and organisational decision-making. My research methods include semi-structured interviews, participant observation with partner organisations, analysis of organisational documents, and basic spatial mapping. Ultimately, I aim to inform policy and practice that link surplus food logistics to community wellbeing, employability, and low-carbon outcomes.

The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Annual Conference, hosted at the University of Birmingham and chaired by Professor Patricia Noxolo (University of Birmingham, UK). The theme for this year's conference was Geographies of Creativity/Creative Geographies. It was my first major conference, and I enjoyed sharing some fieldwork perspectives on the Lagos food bank initiative through a decolonial Gastropolitics lens—examining how history continues to influence what is on our plates today, asking questions like who decides, what is valued as ‘good food’, and who benefits?

An academic talk to the GEOGSOCS (BU Geography Society) at Thoday, where I shared my fieldwork reflections with undergraduates and offered a different perspective on what fieldwork looks like outside the UK. It was an interactive session with them coming up with ideas on their perspectives on food insecurity, food waste, and its effect on climate change.

For the Cymru Wledig LPIP (Local Policy and Innovation Partnership) for Rural Wales project, data were gathered, analysed, and a report compiled, focusing on the concept of economic growth in rural areas. Interviews were conducted, and questionnaires were distributed to various independent retail and service businesses, including butchers, hairdressers, cafes, and estate agents in Llangefni. The data were then analysed, and a summary report was prepared.
